API Objects > Matter

Matter records contain all information pertinent to legal cases. Rates, practice types, billing attorneys, matter descriptions and billing instructions are a few examples of information recorded at the matter level. Clients can have a number of separate matters attached to them. Each individual legal case should be set up as a separate matter.

Matter Object Attributes

For details on object attributes, search the Matter Maintenance Form and Field Definitions for the attribute ID (e.g., BillingInstruc or IsWaiverLetterReq).

For attribute types (e.g., string, integer, etc.) and access type (i.e., Required or Read Only), run a GET request on the MetaData endpoint and do a search for the attribute.
